Frequently Asked Questions

1. How does the process work?

Working with NuHP is as simple as a few easy steps! From the moment you sign up to giving birth. You will submit your contact form here and you’ll be contacted by a NuHP Consultant to learn more about our process, benefits, and packages. From there you'll select your encapsulation package from our Shop Page where you can complete your order and submit either a deposit or pay in full. You will be sent a collection kit based on your location prior to giving birth. Your placenta will be checked-into our facility for processing and once your capsules are complete we will schedule your delivery!

2. Can I request more info before purchasing my package?

Absolutely! Submit your contact info here and a NuHP Consultant will contact you directly.

3. Does it have to be my placenta?

NuHealth Placenta provides placenta encapsulation services to the birthing person only. We do not sell or collect donated placentas for processing.

4. Do I have to pay the hospital to release my own placenta?

No, your placenta is your legal property and does not belong to the hospital or birth facility in any way. Typically the hospital will have the patient sign a placenta release form identifying who will be keeping the placenta post delivery.

5. Can I use your service if I'm having a home birth?

Yes! We can accommodate any place of birth, including your home. If you do not see your location at check out please contact us directly so we can walk you through the process, (213) 245-1497.

6. What if I have an infection or traumatic labor?

We use a series of safety and sanitation protocols to ensure all placentas are completely consumable despite any type of infection or birth trauma.

7. Can I make payments during my pregnancy? Do you have a payment plan option??

You are able to manage and submit payments at your own convenience using your personal NuHP account login when you are placing your order here. If you have any questions please contact us directly by submitting your contact info here and a NuHP consultant will reach out to you directly.

8. Is it still ok to do cord blood banking or delayed cord clamping?

Yes, it is still safe and effective to encapsulate your placenta even if you are doing cord blood banking or delayed the cord clamping.

9. How do I ask the hospital for my placenta? Will the hospital release it to me?

Please notify your nurse upon arrival to the birthing facility that you will be keeping your placenta. The hospital or birthing facility needs your permission to test, toss, or take your placenta from you for any reason. Your placenta is your legal property.

10. Can I still encapsulate if I have a c-section?

Absolutely! We highly encourage our c-section mommies to encapsulate their placenta. The stem cells present in the amniotic sac of your placenta are highly beneficial in speeding up recovery after a major surgery such as this.

11. Can I use HSA (Health Savings Account)?

You are able to use your HSA to purchase your placenta encapsulation service.

12. Does the placenta lose its benefits after being processed?

Your placenta is full of hormones and nutrients that still remain intact after the initial process. We do not recommend processing your placenta using any other method due to potential bacterial or viral transfer that other processes may have.

13. How do I know I am getting my own placenta?

Your name and hospital info is confirmed at the time of pick up and the placenta is labeled upon collection. Your placenta and its label follow each order stage of your process. With a streamlined process using strict safety and sanitation protocols, your placenta is processed in a singular station with the label mentioned above allowing it to safely be consumed by the birthing person.
